(Purple belt 3 stripe)


I started training in 2015 as a way to spend time with my dad. I wouldn’t say I was hooked immediately like a lot of people are, I definitely struggled with being a young 50kg women in a club full of men. I still have ups and downs; always being the smallest person in the gym isn’t easy but sticking to Jiu Jitsu is definitely the best decision I’ve made! I am now a purple belt and a sponsored athlete. I train 6 days a week and compete when I can. This is all alongside studying for a doctorate in counselling psychology. I am currently writing a thesis looking at the links between Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and mental health. I believe BJJ is an extremely mindful activity, as well as being an inclusive social community! My goal now is to continue to work on my coaching skills in order to help Rebellion BJJ to continue to be the friendly inclusive gym it is today and to help encourage both men and women to give BJJ a try! At Rebellion BJJ we also have a ladies only class which is a huge deal for me as this was not available when I started the sport! I am extremely passionate about building our ladies team and encouraging more women to push out of their comfort zone to give BJJ a go! Jiu Jitsu has not only made me feel more able to defend myself but it has also improved my self confidence and given me the opportunity to make some great friends!
